Alfie has today been added to the line-up (Kylie Minogue is also to appear) of the Butterfly Ball which is to take place at the Grosvenor Hotel, London on 15th May. The event is held annually in aid of the charity Caudwell Children which raises money for practical and emotional support for disabled children across the UK.
Alfie, like many other stars, is well known for his charity appearances and support. His last tour programme lists seven main charities: Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts (Ambassador), Nordoff Robbins (Ambassador) and Patron of TF Willets Foundation, Trinity Hospice, Huddersfield Youth Opera, Tenovus and the Blackpool Male Voice Choir. Recently, a fellow group of fans and I took part in an online tea party to support the Put The Kettle On fundraising campaign of Trinity Hospice, which supports people with life limiting illnesses in Alfie’s part of the world, the Fylde Coast. In addition, each year, Alfie’s fans raise thousands of pounds for Nordoff Robbins by donating money for Alfie’s birthday. Laura Wright, another NR ambassador, has just completed the London marathon for the charity – how about it for next year Alfie???
Alfie also regularly takes part in other charity events such as the Butterfly Ball. An example of one such event is SymFunny which will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on 4th June in conjunction with Parkinson’s UK (click here for more info). Sadly, Alfie was not able to appear at this year’s Sunflower Jam event, but here he is performing at the 2012 concert (click here for details of the DVD):
